Welcome to the Merton Aikido Website.  Merton Aikido first opened at Wimbledon Leisure Centre in the year 2000.  During the Centre's refurbishment the class was moved to Lavender Pavilion in Mitcham.

In July, 2003 the Centre closed for refurbishment and the Aikido Classes will moved to "Sutton Arena Leisure Centre"

The emphasis is on basics and natural body movement, this leads to a good posture and a sound self defence structure for the student, building self awareness and self confidence.  The aerobic content of the classes help and improve fitness and the general well being of the student.

The classes were run by David Barrett and Adrian Tyndale, 5th Dan Aikido, 1st Dan Judo.  They were both active members of the GB National Squad and has developed his teaching skills to Coach Tutor level.  Adrian has studied Aikido & Judo for many years, he has been trained by top instructors and is internationally recognised by the Japan Aikido Association.  He is fully insured and approved by the British Aikido Association and the British Aikido Board, the governing bodies in the UK.
